SHALIN’s SHIRAZ 2013
Halliday Gold 95 points
Deep in colour, complex and balanced. The plum, dark chocolate and spice will leave you wanting more……
It is an exciting year when you deliver the grape harvest to your wine maker and he says “Stunning”.
The dark and flavoursome grapes enjoyed nearly 3 years maturation on new French and American oak. The extended time on oak is evident both in the nose and on the palate by the lovely spicy tones perfectly integrated with the dark fruit.
In the glass Shalin’s Shiraz looks great. The rich, deep colours of maturity appear bright and fresh. The refined aroma has a balance of plum and oak. The full, ripe palate gives well-integrated and complex flavours of plums and mocha/dark chocolate and cinnamon spice. Even at this young age the wine shows richness and length. It will age very nicely, improving for at least 5 years, and live on for you to savour for years after that.
Our 2013 Shiraz has been named after our youngest son, Shalin, the spice of our lives.
